Known Incompatibilities
- SmartPhones
MoldTech® is designed to work with any current Windows PC and PocketPC PDA phones, but will not run on SmartPhones utilizing the SmartPhone Edition of Windows Mobile 5 (you don't get the full features of the OS in this flavor).
- HP iPAQ hx2400 and 2700 Series and Windows Mobile® 5.0
Dec. 13 2005, Hewlett Packard iPAQ 2400 series (ex. 2490, etc) and iPAQ 2700 series running Windows Mobile® 5.0 has an OS conflict which can not be easily upgraded to Windows Mobile® 5.1. These are Hewlett Packard's higher-end PDA models, and we recommend that if you have one of these models, that you verify that it is running Windows Mobile 5.1 or higher, or return your PDA and purchase an IPAQ 1900 series (which also should be cheaper than the higher-end models) and should have the Windows Mobile® 5.1 version upgrade pre-installed. No other conflicts have been reported with other HP models to date.
- Slower computers (less than 1.3Ghz)
MoldTech® is not compatible with older operating systems such Windows 98, Windows ME, BOB or Windows 3, or Windows XP or 2000 running on a computer with less than 1.3Ghz of processor speed. A good rule of thumb is if you can't remember when you bought your computer, or if you bought your computer to help your son or daughter in high school and they've since graduated college, it's probably too old to use for MoldTech. However, excellent computers are currently available for less than $300!
- Apple Computers
MoldTech® is not currently compatible with Apple computers, though it was almost entirely designed and programmed by proud, diehard Mac users (which might explain why it's so easy to use.) We do, however, have some MAC users who have told us that they have installed MoldTech® on a Windows® PC in their office, and then remote connect to their PC using their MAC. Be aware, however, that we do not provide technical support to assist with this type of configuration.
- Palm OS
MoldTech® is not compatible with Palm OS PDAs, such as a Sony Clie', Handspring, or Palm. These devices, though they are great phonebooks and organizers, are very limited in terms of power. The newer Palm OS devices that do have additional power are much more expensive than comparable PocketPC devices, making them cost-prohibitive to users such as mold inspectors who might inadvertently drop their PDA off a roof or into a toilet. The PDA we recommend for use with MoldTech® is the Dell Axim 30, a very powerful PocketPC PDA for under $200!
- Navman PDA
MoldTech® is compatible with all PocketPC PDAs running the Windows PocketPC OS. If you have purchased a new PocketPC PDA within the past two years, it should be perfectly compatible. The only exception to this that we know of is the Navman PDA which uses a non-standard system configuration. MoldTech® is not compatible with Navman devices at this time.
- Macromedia® Dreamweaver®
Unfortunately, Macromedia® Dreamweaver® controllers conflict with the MoldTech® application due to file association issues. We recommend that MoldTech® not be installed on a computer that performs Dreamweaver® functions. Dreamweaver® must be completely uninstalled before attempting to install MoldTech®.
